Acne has haunted many of us throughout our teen years and adult life. Adult acne can effect all aspects of suffers lives.
For the lucky ones, acne was just another part of puberty. But for some, acne isn’t just a part of young adulthood. It’s a constant in their life that can make them feel self-conscious and insecure.
Adult Acne – Why Do Some People Have Acne into Adulthood?
There are many complex reasons as to why you are still suffering from acne. Some people just have oily/acne prone skin, but for others, the reasons might be more complicated.
It could stem from your diet. Consuming high levels of dairy can be a trigger for acne, as milk contains high levels of hormones.
There could also be medical reasons to why you are prone to acne, such as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (POS). But acne isn’t the only signifier of POS. If you are experiencing irregular periods or excessive hair growth on your body, then it is worth discussing this with your GP.
Adult Acne Treatments
We have a range of treatments, as well as products, that help to reduce the presence of adult acne. The treatments we have available include:
- Skin Peels
- Photo Laser Treatment
- LED Light Therapy
- Medical Grade Mineral Makeup
Skin peels can help to improve skin texture and redefine pores, making them suitable for a range of conditions. Because we offer so many different types of peels, we will examine your skin in your initial consultation. We do this to make sure you receive the best treatment to achieve the most effective results.
Photo Laser Treatment
We recommend that a laser photo-facial skin rejuvenation treatment is done alongside your skin peel to enhance results. The treatment can also be used to reduce the appearance of scarring that acne often leaves behind. The treatment works by emitting light energy that specifically targets any red or brown lesions in the skin.
LED Light Therapy
LED light therapy is effective in treating acne as it reduces irritation and redness, while fighting bacteria under the skin. This treatment can be used on its own or in combination with other treatments.
There are three different types of LED light therapy – and we recommend Blue Light therapy for your acne concerns. Blue Light helps to reduce acne bacteria under the skin that often cause persistent breakouts.
Like the laser photo-facial skin rejuvenation treatment, this treatment is best for reducing acne scars. By making controlled wounds in the skin with fine needles, micro-needling encourages the body’s natural production of collagen. Collagen helps repair the skin, therefore the appearance of acne scars will be reduced.
Before treatment, we will discuss your individual skin concerns so we can get you on the right treatment plan.
Medical Grade Mineral Makeup
There might be a more superficial reason you are experiencing acne. If you spend most of your time wearing makeup then it is likely you are blocking up your pores. This could mean you are introducing more bacteria to your skin, which can trigger acne.
At Skin Perfection London, we offer a range of medical grade mineral makeup, which is kinder to your skin. These products can be found on our website, under Skincare.
