Laser Photofacial Skin Rejuvenation: A Quick Guide

As we get older, the skin can reveal a range of imperfections and may require more than creams, and lotions to revitalise it. At Skin Perfection in the heart of London, we offer laser photo-facial skin rejuvenation to actively and effectively combat a wide-range of skin concerns. Laser photofacial skin rejuvenation can reduce pigmentation, smooth lines and wrinkles, increasing hydration as well as improve inflammatory conditions such as rosacea and broken thread veins and capillaries.

What is laser photofacial skin rejuvenation?

The treatment works using light energy. Light has many wavelengths and some can have a healing and renewing effect on the skin. Harnessing these selected wavelengths using a clinically-proven device can improve the appearance of brown lesions including sun-damage, freckles, age spots and uneven skin patches. Thread veins, redness and rosacea can also be calmed and soothed. What’s more, the heat that is emitted tightens and tones the skin by stimulating collagen and elastin production in the dermis, offering an anti-ageing solution.

Laser photo-facial rejuvenation can treat skin types 1 to 3 (very pale to average white skins). Darker skin tones from Mediterranean through to African skins will pick up the light more intensively and therefore cannot be treated as they pose a risk of the light energy heating the melanin in the skin too much, causing a laser burn. However, if you are unsure of your skin-type, it is advisable to visit us for a no-obligation consultation so that we can decide whether you are suitable for the treatment.

What is a photofacial treatment like?

Laser devices have evolved in recent years and though you may feel some warmth during the treatment, the cooling technology which has been added to our device will significantly reduce any discomfort that may be experienced with older, dated devices.

Laser photofacial rejuvenation aftercare

After the treatment, you may feel some warmth for a few hours and experience some redness and swelling for a few days. We will advise that you use cool packs to ease these symptoms post-treatment and to call us with any concerns that you may have in the days that follow. Some of the targeted areas such as spots or broken veins may appear worse as the laser is revealing the skin conditions. However, you should start to see significant improvements after around 10 to 14 days.
