There aren’t many treatments around that can help with a wide-range of skin conditions and irritations, so when I discovered LED light therapy I was delighted to introduce this to the clinic.
The skin is the largest organ of the body so it’s no wonder that most of us have a form of skin imperfection at some stage in our lives. Acne and breakouts can be a nuisance at best and can cause life-changing emotional upset at worst. Fine lines and wrinkles come to us all, but we don’t have to age too gracefully or put up with looking older before our time. Redness in certain skin conditions such as rosacea can be troublesome to treat, as many topical applications can further increase irritation, exacerbating the issue.
What can light therapy treat?
LED light therapy can combat a variety of skin issues in a pain-free, no-downtime treatment. It uses specially selected coloured light energy, depending on the skin condition to penetrate and heal the skin. Many of my patients comment that they love this treatment as they find it incredibly relaxing and many people can’t tolerate any discomfort or simply don’t have the time to have any after-treatment symptoms that come with some of the more aggressive skin therapies such as ablative laser or strong peels.
LED light therapy calms the skin and is a great post-treatment procedure to speed up any downtime from ablative skin therapies. It can help you relax, de-stress and unwind, which will also help your skin to repair itself!
LED light therapy can encourage collagen production, which helps to maintain the skin’s optimum health and can help keep annoying acne breakouts at bay. We like to offer at least 3 to 6 treatment sessions but will assess your individual skin concern and advise you on the most appropriate course of treatment for the very best results, in a no-obligation skin assessment.
Your LED light therapy treatment
The beauty of LED light therapy is that it’s a walk-in, walk-out treatment and no anaesthetic is required, so you can have the treatment in your lunch break and return to your daily activities immediately afterwards (feeling more relaxed and refreshed). You also won’t have any tell-tale signs that you’ve had anything done, so this is also perfect if you have a special event, the evening of your treatment. There are no risks or complications associated with LED light therapy, however, we do advise that those with high sensitivity to light do not undergo this therapy.
LED light therapy takes between 15 to 30 minutes and after a suitable course, will offer long-term results. Many of my patients enjoy more healthy, smooth, clear skin for up to 12 months afterwards. Sometimes a ‘top up’ treatment might be required but this doesn’t seem to bother any of my clients as they love the treatment as it is a great opportunity to relax and take a break from their busy lives.
As one of our most sought-after treatments, I can’t recommend LED light therapy for anyone who wants to improve the appearance of their skin but who would also like a non-invasive, relaxing spa-like therapy with no downtime, side-effects or discomfort.
