When you suffer from breakouts and oily skin, you know first hand how long of a battle it can be to find the right solution for your skin. With a number of different treatments, skincare and also more and more “magic products” emerging through social media; no wonder if you’re feeling slightly confused. So what acne treatments should you use in order to restore balance and a healthy glow in your skin?
What is acne?
Acne’s caused by the production of excess sebum. Which is an oil that stops the skin from drying out. This oil clumps together with dead skin cells within your pores, causing an acne lesion or spot.
These lesions vary in size and severity. And form when bacteria enters the pores. Triggering an inflammatory response from the immune system.
What acne treatments should you use?
Acne can be an incredibly complex condition. But the good news is that there is a treatment for almost all acne. However it’s a matter of finding the right treatment for you. Treatments for acne will depend on how severe the acne is.
As well as different grades of acne, your skin is unique and requires a holistic approach when choosing the right treatments for you.
Treatments for acne
SKIN PEELS – They’ll improve your skin texture and redefine pores. They penetrate the top, dead and damaged layers of skin to help reduce or completely remove the appearance of acne and acne scarring. Depending on the grade of acne you have and also your skin, a specific peel would be recommended to treat your condition.
Some examples of the ingredients that make the treatment successful are;
– Salicylic acid – Oil soluble exfoliant that goes deep into your pores to clear acne and blackheads.We recommend BHA if you’ve sensitive, acne prone skin. As Salicylic acid is anti- inflammatory it helps to calm your skin and minimise redness.
– Azelaic acid – A natural acid that helps remove the dead skin cells faster and penetrates into the skin to destroy bacteria. As a result a great treatment for acne and patients who have sensitive skin and if you suffer from rosacea.
LASER PHOTO FACIAL SKIN REJUVENATION – It’s an effective way to treat acne while also improve inflammatory conditions such as rosacea and broken thread veins and capillaries.
PRESCRIPTION STRENGTH TOPICAL TREATMENTS FROM A DR – In some extreme cases, if you suffer from severe acne you may need antibiotics in combination with your skincare plan. But this must be strictly supervised by the Doctor prescribing.
