Can acne be cured? | Skin Perfection

Can acne be cured?

Whether your acne has been part of your life since your teens, or started later in life, the condition can cause you stress, pain, and a skydive in your confidence. When you’ve tried all the tricks in the book and products that promise the stars and moon, no wonder you feel deflated. And even wonder can acne be cured at all? Yes, acne can be cured.

Can acne be cured?

Every person is unique and there is only one of you. Therefore your skin is also unique and your treatment requires a different approach. This should start from exploring the condition. Then getting to know what triggers your breakouts. And what makes them worse. Acne can be an incredibly complex condition but luckily almost all acne can be successfully cured.

Many adults struggle with acne in particular because of one the below reasons. Review your daily habits and skincare plan in order to be able to stop your acne.

1. Understand what flares up your acne

What causes it, why it flares up and what makes it worse or better? Greasy foods, chocolate, and dairy don’t cause acne but certain foods can aggravate it. If you are currently following a strict skincare routine, but your skin doesn’t seem to be improving, you should evaluate your diet as the next step. Dairy and greasy foods, in particular, are known to cause problems with current acne sufferers.

2. Get a personalised skincare plan

Each treatment plan should be unique considering your skin, sensitivity and medical background. What works for some may not be suitable for you and before using any products purchased online, you should always speak to your skin practitioner.

3. Don’t over use your products

Understanding your products is absolutely crucial when it comes to treating your acne at home. Many patients tend to over use products or mix the wrong skincare which can cause more harm than relief to the skin. You should always consult a trained professional about the right skincare regime and the person who recommends you these products should be re-assessing your skin’s response to them regularly.

4. Stay consistent with your skincare and treatment plan

Inflammation takes time to calm down and heal. Always allow yourself at least 10-12 weeks before losing trust in your skincare plan. Also, I have seen many patients who have been thrilled with their results and completely stopped all their treatment/home care, only to find their acne has flared up again. Regular maintenance and a consistent home skincare is important to keep up the good results.

5. Consult your GP or Dermatologist about prescription strength topical treatment

In some extreme cases, patients suffer from severe acne may need antibiotics in combination with their skincare plan, but this must be strictly supervised by the Doctor prescribing.
