Should I pop acne or not? I hear this question from majority of my new skin patients. And even from my friends for that matter. Absolutely not! You should never pop your acne. I know the temptation is almost painful, but you’ll do more harm to your skin and can even result your acne leaving a permanent mark in its place.
Should I pop acne or not?
No, no, no and no. You should never touch your spots or pop your acne. I know it does feel good to squeeze your spots, but trauma like that could leave your skin with irritation, scarring, marks and even discolouration.
Not to mention in the process of bursting your acne, bacteria and pus can spread on to other areas of your skin and stimulate further breakouts.
Popping your acne could make your spots even more visible and also slow down the healing process. Even leave you with scars, that may need more treatment to get rid of. But some deep scars may never completely disappear.
A consistent skincare routine will help you treat and prevent breakouts.
Your best chance of preventing acne and breakouts is a very consistent skin care plan, one that you can follow religiously. This will help you treat the cause of your breakouts minimising the occurrence of spots.
If you suffer from the occasional spots, you can also carry a spot treatment gel with you, that you apply directly on the spot up to 4 times a day and will help you get rid of them without causing post acne scarring. My patient’s favourite and one that I also carry in my hand bag is Epionce’s Purifying Spot Gel. Clinically proven spot treatment rapidly targets stubborn acne blemishes on the face and body. Suitable for all skin types. Epionce Correct & Boost products help reduce imperfections, smooth uneven texture, and minimise signs of skin ageing such as fine lines and wrinkles.
