Has your laser hair removal treatment left you feeling disappointment due to the lack of results? Have you been promised a hair free body after a course of treatments yet the hair has been growing just like before? What should you be checking when laser hair removal has gone wrong?
What to evaluate when your laser hair removal gone wrong?
Before giving up on the idea of a hair free body, you should investigate each factors that could have an impact on your treatments. These may be the answer to your distress and changing either of these may mean the difference that will deliver your results after all.
Investigate whether you were treated with the safest and most suitable laser specific to your skin type.
You may have been dubbed into purchasing IPL or lasers that aren’t specifically using wavelength suitable for your skin tone. This would not only put your skin at risk during each treatment, but will most certainly compromise your results and the number of treatments you’ll be needing.
Have attended your treatment at regular intervals and kept your plan consistent?
For the laser to destroy the root, the follicle has to be at a specific stage of its growth. So not too early and not too late. However as not all our follicles are growing at the same speed, we’ll be targeting new hair cycles each time. Which is why you should attend your treatments in every 4-6 weeks. But if we treat too early or miss the cycle the treatment won’t be as effective. For this reason, during your initial consultation we’d encourage you to schedule all your appointments in advance to ensure consistency in your treatment plan.
Have you had enough treatments?
Remember every patient can respond different to the treatment. And even different parts of your body may respond at a slower or faster speed. A standard course of 8 sessions is always a minimum recommendation and in some cases you may just need to continue with more treatments. This is of course applicable when the other factors have already been ruled out as to the type of laser you have been treated with. And after insuring treatment intervals have been kept to what was advised by your practitioner.
Do you perhaps suffer from underlaying hormonal conditions and imbalances?
In some cases underlaying medical conditions, such as hormonal imbalance, PCOS may slow down the results of the treatment. As a result you may need more treatments compared to patients without these conditions.
