After laser hair removal, many people wonder if they can return to their previous hair removal methods, such as waxing. The answer is yes. You can go back to waxing after laser hair removal. But only if you know you aren’t going to have more laser treatments. Or for instance you’re having a larger break for a specific reason, like travelling for a longer period or expecting a baby. And these instances you’re unable to receive your laser treatments for months. If however, you’re having a course of laser hair removal then you should avoid waxing between the treatments. Waxing involves removing the hair from the roots, which will interfere with the laser hair removal process.
Effective laser hair removal
The laser works by emitting a light energy that targets the hair follicles where it destroy the hair and enables future growth. But the treatment will only work if your hair is present and attached the follicles. It is recommended to avoid any hair removal methods that remove the hair from the roots, such as waxing or plucking completely during your laser hair removal course. Otherwise you are wasting your money and time.
Instead, it’s better to use gentle hair removal methods, such as shaving or trimming, to remove any remaining hair after a laser hair removal session or to prepare your skin for your next treatment. These methods do not remove the hair from the roots and can help to avoid skin irritation and promote healing.
Can you go back to waxing after laser?
If for any reason you’re forced to have months long break you can technically go back to waxing. But it is not recommended and you should allow at least 3-4 weeks from your last waxing to pass before resuming laser hair removal.
