Can I was my hair after exosomes? You’ve just taken the first brave step toward restoring your hair. But now you’re standing in the shower, staring at your shampoo bottle, wondering, is it too soon to wash my hair? You’ve just invested in a course of treatments. And the last thing you want is to undo the progress by making a simple mistake. Especially when you’re finally starting to feel hopeful again after months or years of dealing with thinning, shedding, or bald patches. So let’s talk about what really happens after exosome hair restoration, and how to take care of your scalp to get the best possible results.
Can I wash my hair after exosomes?
Yes, but not immediately! After your exosome hair treatment, we recommend waiting at least 24 to 48 hours before washing your hair. This allows the exosomes, which are the tiny, cell-signalling powerhouses, to penetrate the scalp and get to work without disruption.
During those initial hours, your scalp is absorbing all the biological cues it needs to reboot dormant follicles, reduce inflammation, and regenerate healthier tissue. Shampooing too early could wash away the active ingredients before they’ve had a chance to settle. Not to mention you just had microneedling. So you really don’t want to irritate your scalp further or let bacteria enter the open wounds.
Once the 24-48 hour window passed, you can absolutely wash your hair, but still do it gently. Skip harsh shampoos, silicones, and sulphates. Stick to mild, pH-balanced formulas that support scalp health. No scrubbing, no hot water, no vigorous towel-drying. Instead do gentle fingertips, warm water, and pat-dry with a soft towel.
How to care for your hair between exosomes treatments?
Exosome therapy isn’t a one-and-done fix. It’s a journey back to confidence, and like any transformation, consistency is key.
For most patients, we recommend a series of 3 to 6 microneedling & exosome treatments, spaced about 4 weeks apart. This gives your follicles time to respond, regenerate, and build strength.
In between sessions, your job is simple but important:
- Protect the scalp from sun exposure (wear a hat or use SPF).
- Avoid chemical treatments like colouring or perming for at least a week post-treatment.
- Support your results with a healthy diet, hydration, and stress management (yes, stress is a major player in hair loss).
- Replace your hair care that contains silicones, parabens, perfumes and other harmful, potentially hormone changing chemicals to pure, clean, medical grade hair care.
- And most importantly, don’t obsess over daily changes. Hair growth takes time, and results often show gradually over a few months. We know the wait can be hard. But when you run your hands through thicker roots or catch a glimpse of baby hairs in the mirror, it will be so worth it.
At our hair restoration clinic in London, we’ve helped hundreds of men and women take back control over their hair loss journey. Whether you’re dealing with alopecia, thinning, or unexplained shedding, exosome hair restoration combined with microneedling can help activate real change without invasive procedures.
