TIP 1 – SPF, SPF, SPF, SPF, SPF, SPF, SPF
Always be sure to check your SPF! A good SPF should NOT be a Chemical Sunscreen that you may find in the department store. Or online for that matter. But a Physical SPF containing Zinc and Titanium, which protects the skin instantly and reflects both UVA and UVB. The most important part of your skincare and step to prevent skin cancer! An absolute must that you can’t skip or leave the house without.
Don’t forget to also protect your hand, chest, legs and whole body if sunbathing. And also remember to reapply every 3-4 hours if staying outside consistently.
TIP 2 – SWITCH TO A DUAL PURPOSE MOISTURIZER, BUT DON’T SKIp MOISTURIZING
Despite the weather being hot and humid your skin still needs moisture. Moisturising creates a barrier to your outermost layer of the skin, which protects from harmful pollutants and chemicals and prevents further irritation or dryness.
Switching to a combination of light weight moisturizer and sun protection during summer may be enough for some as long as you remember to reapply a generous amount every 3-4 hours. Thicker moisturisers can lead to clogged pores, inflammation, and acne; especially if you have acne-prone or oily skin. Switching to a one step skincare with a combination moisturizer/SPF can help keep your skin clear.
TIP 3 – REMEMBER TO EXFOLIATE
After toning introduce a “at home treatment mask” that contains special fruity acids. These will naturally exfoliate your skin, refine your pores and remove unwanted build up of congestion for a smoother glowing complexion.
TIP 4 – VITAMIN C
An important ingredient of your skincare all year round, vitamin C is even more crucial during th summer months. Did you know Vitamin C protects your skin from free radical damage, as well as calms any unwanted inflammation and hyper pigmentation? Vitamin C also has the benefits of enhancing the amount of collagen in your skin. ( aka younger looking skin). After exfoliating and before moisturising in the morning use a high grade, stable form of Vitamin C serum.
Tip 5 – SWITCH TO MINERAL MAKE UP
Minimise your daily use of make up. If you can avoid wearing it, opt for mineral make up, that is breathable and doesn’t clog your pores.
